Growing Season: Art Inspired by Nature

Art Exhibit Dates April 12 to May 31

Artist Reception April 19 5 PM - 7 PM

The natural world is a perennial source of inspiration for artists of all kinds. In this nature-inspired multi-media art exhibit, viewers are invited to experience the power of nature to delight, inform, uplift, and even heal.

Growing Season brings together artists: Alexandra Amenta, Susan Smith, Anne Jarvis Thomas, Joanna Libonati, and Anna Murphey each sharing their unique creative inspirations.

Alexandra is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in maintenance-free botanical art and installations. Inspired by lush landscapes, she incorporates the textures of mosses, ferns, driftwood, and botanicals to create original compositions that evoke an elevated sense of peace and whimsy.

Susan Smith is a world traveler who captures detail by photographing subjects in their natural environments. She is a photographer with a “different vision.”  She focuses on botanicals, water in any form, and animals of all kinds and has loved penguins forever. Her photography is printed on metal to intensify the color and clarity of the images.

Anne Jarvis Thomas embroiders botanicals woven with nostalgia and symbolism. All start with a hand-drawn flower sketched right onto the fabric which she then hand-stitches to add color and depth. This technique ensures each piece is unique and handmade from start to finish.

Joanne Libonati’s work has a tranquil, meditative quality. The focus is on the quiet beauty of the natural world and the subtle, shifting moments in it, making it feel like a quiet invitation to reflect.

Anna Murphey created “Natural Allies: Medicinal Plants for Women's Health and Beyond” for Growing Season. A collection of watercolors featuring medicinal plants. Anna’s therapeutic style is relational, holistic, and informed by 12+ years of Buddhist study and meditation practice. She is a certified Nature-Informed Therapist and ecotherapy practitioner.

In times of global stress and upheaval, nature continues to be a source of beauty and solace. May these works of art remind us of nature’s gifts and motivate us to care for our planet and each other.

Reach out to any artist directly to arrange a personalized journey through the exhibition and for purchases.

25% of all sales will be dedicated to supporting Whitemarsh Learning Center, ensuring the continuation of their invaluable community programming.
